With the Aventador out in the open and Gallardo nearing the end of the road, Lamborghini has confirmed it will put the popular Sesto Elemento concept into limited production.

Very limited, in fact. Only 20 of the "Sixth Element" supercars will be produced, and it won't surprise you to learn that each car is already spoken for.

The news follows reports earlier this year that pointed to a 20-car run for the Sesto Elemento, with a twist: those reports claimed that the cars would not be eligible for road registration.

Speaking at the Frankfurt Motor Show this week, Lamborghini boss Stephan Winklemann confirmed production but did not offer any further details.

So, for now, little else is known. Reports have suggested that the production Sesto Elemento will be powered by the Gallardo's 400kW+ 5.2 litre V10.

If it doesn't need to be registered for the road, Lamborghini may be able to maintain the supercar's ultra-light 995kg kerb weight, giving it a 0-100km/h time of around 2.5 seconds.
