Lamborghini Planning Line-up Overhaul In Coming Years

Riding high on the successful launch of its all-new Aventador LP 700-4, Lamborghini is reportedly planning to launch several new models in the coming years.

Among these new models is expected to be a Spyder version of the popular LP 550-2 Gallardo Valentino Balboni, sending 405kW and 540Nm of torue to the rear wheels.

Likely to be among the last of the Gallardo offerings, this model is expected to make its debut later this year.

As for all-new Lambos, the Volkswagen-owned supercar brand is believed to be preparing a 2012 debut for an extremely-limited (think Reventon) version of the Sesto Elemento concept.

The carbon-fibre Sesto Elemento - revealed at last year's Paris Motor Show - weighs in at exactly 999kg and is powered by a 5.2 litre V10 engine producing 419kW and, according to Lamborghini, offers a 0-100km/h time of just 2.5 seconds.

At last, in 2013, Lamborghini will reportedly unveil a successor to the Gallardo. According to enthusiast website TeamSpeed, the new model will be called the Cabrera (a town in Colombia, but also, oddly, the Spanish name for a goat herder).

The Cabrera will reportedly draw power from the same 419kW V10 driving the Sesto Elemento and the Gallardo Super Trofeo.

While a Spyder version of the so-called Cabrera will undoubtedly follow, Lamborghini's Estoque super-sedan is expected to make its long-awaited production debut in the far-off future of 2017, giving fans a more practical option than its current two-door supercar line-up.

Whether any of these reports can be believed remains to be seen, but after countless Gallardo special editions and talk of Lamborghini needing to grow sales, new models in the new few years at least a given.
