Suzuki has recalled its Grand Vitara SUV in Australia this week, due to a potential problem with the gear selector.

The carmaker has identified a weakness with the shifter’s rear shaft, which may fail under certain driving conditions.

Should this occur, it may be impossible for drivers to shift between gears, causing a hazard for the vehicle occupants and other road users.

Affected models are JB Grand Vitaras sold in Australia between May 2008 and June 2013. A total of 1984 vehicles are on the recall list for Australia, although this figure may not include vehicles originally sold in Queensland.

Suzuki will attempt to contact affected owners shortly, but any owner wishing to learn more about the latest round of recalls should contact their local dealer or phone Suzuki Australia on 1800 777 088.

Lamborghini, meanswhile, has recalled its Aventador coupe and roadster models, stretching from the 2012 to 2017 model-years.

The Italian carmaker says that overfilling the fuel tank may allow fuel to reach the carbon canister under certain driving conditions.

Should this occur, the vehicle’s ‘EVAP’ fuel vapour management strategy may not operate as intended, and vapours may mix with hot engine gases.

The condition leaves the Aventador susceptible to fire risk, particularly if an aftermarket exhaust system has been fitted.

Affected Aventadors in various markets also include a host of limited edition models, with 104 examples on the recall list for Australia.

Lamborghini will attempt to contact affected owners shortly, but any owner wishing to learn more about the latest round of recalls should contact their local dealer.
