Everybody needs a hero. Yours might be Lamborghini's Aventador supercar, but that car's own hero is this, the Aventador J.

A teaser video released this week suggested that Lamborghini's new red demon might be called Unica, Spanish for alone, singular, solitary. We got it partly right: there is indeed only one Aventador J.

This roadster is no concept however. One hundred percent street-legal, the Aventador J is for sale. The house of the raging bull hasn't offered a price, but you remember the old saying. If you need to know...

"At the end of the Geneva Motor Show, this sight will be the preserve of just one: the future owner of the Lamborghini Aventador J," Lamborghini's press release reads.

"There is only one of them, no prototypes and no others for the Lamborghini Museum. The buyer can look forward to a truly unique, street-legal work of art."

Separating the Aventador J from its hardtop counterpart (and the eventual Aventador Roadster, no doubt), are a number of unique styling features.

There's a flatter wind-splitting profile, two separated speedster windscreens, a large rear wing and a unique cutaway front bumper with a massive bolt-on diffuser arrangement.

Lamborghini has also used a new carbon-fibre fabric, dubbed carbonskin, soft enough for use on the seats and interior surfaces - in place of regular fabric and leathers.

In what must be a first for a road-legal supercar, the highest point of the Aventador J is its periscope-like rear-view mirror - although the rollbars at the rear terminate at the same height.

Incidentally, Lamborghini says the letter J is derived from the sporting rules of the FIA world motorsport organization. Its "Appendix J" defines the technical specification of race cars in the various classes.

Power for the Aventador J is provided by the same 515kW 6.5 litre V12 that drives the regular coupe. It's going to be fast: although a 0-100km/h time has not been offered, Lamborghini promises a top speed of over 300km/h.

But, let's be honest: whoever 'of very, very, stupidly-ample means' comes to own the Aventador J, we all know it's going directly to a hermetically sealed vault 30 kilometres beneath the North Pole.
