Volkswagen Group bosses remain undecided on a production future for the Urus SUV concept. But, according to Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winklemann, a decision is due in the coming months.

Speaking at an event this week, Winkelmann told reporters that the company is considering the impact of SUV production on its existing facilities, and how best to use its resources during an economic crisis.

Revealed in April, the Urus represents Lamborghini's proposed entry into the growing prestige SUV market, where it would take on the likes of Bentley's planned EXP 9 F (a Volkswagen Group stablemate).

"The Urus expands the brand's customer base enormously - appealing to families and to the drivers of Lamborghini super sports cars who have thus far driven SUV models from other brands," Lamborghini says.

Final details for the Urus have not been revealed, although it is expected that an Audi-sourced twin-turbo V8 would drive the sleek SUV. The carmaker has said it will aim for power figures in the vicinity of 440kW.

All-wheel-drive will also feature (of course), but Lamborghini is holding its cards close to its chest when it comes to the Urus' other features.
