Swedish supercar mob Koenigsegg is preparing to launch its most extreme model yet, according to reports out of Europe this week.

Dubbed ‘One:1’, the supercar's name is reportedly thanks to its power-to-weight ratio of one horsepower (0.74kW) per kilogram.

Speculation of the new model was initially fuelled by a leaked brochure scan, but British mag Cars UK is understood to have confirmed details with founder Christian von Koenigsegg.

Koenigsegg has reportedly indicated that the model’s production will be limited to just five units, with a focus on selling these to the Chinese market.

To achieve its namesake power-to-weight ratio, the One:1 is likely to be more powerful and lighter than the existing Agera R (pictured here) flagship’s 1140HP (850kW) and 1290kg.

Expressed in the same fashion, the Agera R’s power-to-weight ratio is 0.884:1.

A 1:1 ratio will theoretically permit faster acceleration than the all-wheel drive 1182HP (882kW)/1838kg Bugatti Veyron Super Sport’s 0-100km time of 2.5 seconds - traction permitting of course..

Given the rear-wheel drive Agera R also exceeds the Veyron Super Sport’s power-to-weight ratio, we’re not holding our breath.

Pricing is one area where the One:1 is likely to beat the Veyron Super Sport however, with Koenigsegg reportedly suggesting a figure near US$2 million (AU$1.9 million), some US$500,000 (AU$477,000) beneath the Super Sport - and more in line with the open-topped but slower Grand Sport model.

Koenigsegg is yet to suggest how his company plans to improve on the Agera R’s already twin-turbocharged 5.0 litre V8 and carbon-fibre/aluminium chassis construction, but the One:1 name leaves no room for exaggeration.

The Swedish maker has all the time in the world to recognise this figure however, with Koenigsegg reportedly refusing to specify a launch date.
