Volvo, it seems, is quite pleased with its new ‘I-Shift’ truck transmission so the Swedish car- and truck-maker was looking for a way to show it off.

The I-Shift is the first-ever dual clutch automatic designed for use in heavy vehicles, and is presented here in Volvo’s self-proclaimed “champion of long-haul routes”; the FH model.

So what better way to show the world the wares of the I-Shift than to race it, fitted to the truck, against one of the hottest supercars the world has ever known.

Volvo announced its intentions to do just that earlier this month, and the race has now been run and won.

The Koenigsegg One:1 was the chosen combatant for the supercar team, and with its 1001kW/1371Nm 5.0 litre twin-turbo V8, 1360kg weight and 0-400km/h (yep) time of 20 seconds, it seemed like a ‘no-contest’.
