Kia has announced that a new SUV concept, to be known as the Telluride, will be shown at the coming Detroit Auto Show.

Just two preview images have been offered so far, the first of which is a shadow-clad profile shot.

The Telluride, according to Kia, is a "bold new direction" for the company’s design language, meaning we could see a shift in the styling themes first established by Kia’s then-chief design officer, Peter Schreyer, late last decade.

The interior teaser offers a clear view of three TFT screens deployed for the instrument cluster, climate controls. and infotainment, while a strong horizontal orientation, with a typically concept-minimalist theme, dominates.

The dash, doors, and steering wheel feature Kia’s first use of 3D-printed components. Kia also describes unique health and wellness technology, but hasn’t offered any hints as to what that might include.

Kia suggests the Telluride offers a glimpse of a possible future premium large SUV for the company, meaning the Telluride would likely sit above the current Sorento, taking over from the current Kia Mohave (sold as the Kia Borrego in North America) which has never appeared in Australian showrooms.

With just a few days until the doors of the Detroit Auto Show are thrown open, we won’t have too long to wait to find out more about the Telluride. Keep your eyes on TMR for more info.
