It almost wouldn't be a motor show without a new concept from Korean dynamo Kia, with recent examples being the Provo hot hatch and the big Cross GT SUV.

This week, Kia will tempt us with another sporty new showcar when it reveals its new CUB concept at the 2013 Seoul Motor Show.

For now, Kia has released one telling teaser image of the golden-hued concept, revealing a rounded form with a slender grille, tall front bumper and large Quoris-inspired headlights.

Little else has been confirmed, although Kia has revealed that the CUB measures under four metres long, its styling designed to find appeal with "trend-setting urban dwellers".

Along with the muscular Provo hybrid hot hatch, the CUB could be a predictor of Kia's production performance plans.

In concept form, the Provo is powered by the same 1.6 litre turbocharged engine driving the Australia-bound Pro_Cee'd GT, delivering 150kW to the front wheels.

Unlike the GT however, the Provo also features a "Smart-4WD-Hybrid" system, with an electric motor sending an extra 33kW to the rear wheels when needed. The motor can also allow low-speed electric-only driving.

Whether we'll see any of this hybrid performance technology in a future production Kia - and how soon - remains to be seen.
