Kia has released new images and video clips for its upcoming K9 flagship, offering a glimpse of its upmarket technologies and interior styling.

The two interior images reveal a close-up look at a steering wheel and centre console design that draws inspiration from the likes of Mercedes-Benz and BMW, two of the car's more expensive rivals.

With an exterior design that also takes its direction from the European brands, it's no surprise that the big saloon's cabin carries a familiar look.

The photos and video clips also detail a number of the rear-wheel-drive K9's technologies, including adaptive LED headlights, a colour heads-up display, and a 12.3-inch LCD screen in the dash.

At launch, the K9's engine options for the K9 will include a 220kW 3.3 litre V6 and a 3.8 litre V6 delivering 245kW. While not confirmed, it's expected that Kia's new flagship will pick up a V8 option in the future.

Australia

Speaking with TMR, Kia Australia's Kevin Hepworth confirmed that there are no plans to bring the K9 here.

As with the current Genesis, the big new Kia will be built in left-hand-drive only, which keeps it well off the Australian radar for the foreseeable future.
