Speaking with Auto Express, Kia vice-president of overseas marketing, Soon-Nam Lee, reportedly said that future production was a done deal.
“We have plans to build a GT; we spoke about it at our global marketing conference in Singapore,” Mr Lee said.
“We’ll be mainly targeting the end of 2016 or early 2017.”
This isn’t the first time production of the GT has been rumoured, with reports in July and earlier this year hinting that a road-going version of the concept will finally be built.
Despite Kia’s addiction to stylish sporty models of late, Mr Lee said that the Korean carmaker has no plans to go motor racing for now, preferring to leave the company honour to sister carmaker Hyundai.
However, Mr Lee did say that he would like to see Kia at the start line for a motor racing series at some stage in the future.
