Kia Australia has confirmed that it is giving serious consideration to bringing the turbocharged Cerato Koup to local showrooms.
Revealed at the New York Auto Show, the turbo Koup (sold the Forte Koup SX in the US) is powered by the same 1.6 litre engine as Hyundai’s Veloster SR Turbo and the inbound Kia Pro_C’eed GT.
Power tops out at 150kW and peak torque measures 264Nm, giving the Koup plenty of poke.
While the naturally-aspirated Cerato Koup is due here by the end of 2013, Kia Australia PR boss Kevin Hepworth says the company is still deciding whether a turbocharged Koup would step on the toes of the Pro_C’eed GT.
