Jeep is building a new pickup model - and it’s coming to Australia.

Speaking with TMR today, Jeep Australia’s Director of Marketing And Product Strategy, Zac Loo, confirmed that the new model will be based on the Jeep Wrangler Limited with a four-door, four- or five-seat, dual-cab body.

There is no cab-chassis nor single-cab models planned.

Loo said FCA had been working on the US parent for a ute model for “years”, but also conceded that Australia wasn’t the only market outside America to show interest in a Jeep pickup.

Wrangler would always be ‘Made In USA’, Loo continued, but future expansion of Fiat Chrysler’s global facilities could see the pickup model manufactured in the US, but assembled in China.

The Wrangler four-door measures 4751mm long and 1877mm wide with a wheelbase of 2947mm.
