Jeep has issued a recall for its Wrangler 4WD in Australia this week, due to potential problem with a safety sensor.

The carmaker has identified a weakness with the sensor, which measures frontal forces during a collision.

The sensor may be allowed to break free during a collision before it has relayed vital information to the Occupant Restraint Control (ORC).

In extreme cases, this may prevent airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners from operating as intended, increasing the risk of injury for the vehicle occupants.
