Jeep has introduced a comprehensive new five-year aftersales support program to help combat its beleaguered reputation for reliability.
Called the 'There and Back Guarantee', the new program introduces a five-year warranty, five-year capped price servicing plan and five-year roadside assistance program.
The plan comes in reaction to a difficult period that has seen numerous recalls for its vehicles, particularly the Grand Cherokee, and a steady decline in sales.
Jeep Australia CEO Steve Zanlunghi has overseen the introduction of the new program and having made it a top priority for Fiat Chrysler Group Australia since starting in the role in August 2016.
"This is not a limited-time offer or a short term promotion," Zanlunghi said. "It forms a fundamental component of our business going forward and it's a commitment to our owners now and in the future."
The five-year/100,000km warranty is a full manufacturer-backed warranty and can be transferred to subsequent owners, should the original buyer sell. The five year roadside assistance plan can be extended for the life of the vehicle, provided the car remains in the care of an authorised Jeep dealer.
The new deal applies to all 2017 model year Jeeps but in order to keep existing customers happy Jeep will offer an extra two year extended warranty, to owners of 2015 and 2016 model Jeeps for $1950.
Jeep will also offer three-year and five-year prepaid scheduled maintenance plans that can be bought at the time of buying the vehicle. To simplify maintenance schedules all 2017 model year vehicles move to a 12 month/15,000km service interval for petrol engines, or 12 months/20,000km for diesels.
The company has also made changes to its backroom operations including a new three-tiered customer call centre, improved dealer training and support, increased parts supply, reduced costs for fast moving parts, and reduced parts shipping times for customers in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
