An electronic limited-slip rear differential, modified air suspension with extended travel, up to 270mm of ground clearance and a tweaked 4WD system are all included in the Trailhawk package.
The exterior also boasts 18-inch wheels wearing all-terrain tyres and a removable front bumper section, while Trailhawk signage completes the exterior look.
Inside, the new Trailhawk adds a combination of dark grey and piano-black highlights, leather and suede seats with red stitching and an ungraded infotainment system designed to display an array of off-roading information (such as suspension height).
Jeep is yet to confirm whether the 2016 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk will be coming to Australia, but the carmaker last offered a Trailhawk variant in its Grand Cherokee range as a limited edition model back in 2013.
Fans hoping for a “Trackhawk”, rather than this Trailhawk, may have to wait until another day. Why Jeep is all but certain to debut the Trailhawk in New York, there’s little word on when or if Jeep will use the Trackhawk name that it trademarked in 2014.
Stay tuned to TMR for more from the New York Auto Show.
