Jeep’s Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is heading to Australia next year.

Described by Jeep as its “most capable” Grand Cherokee, the Trailhawk’s party piece is the brand's Quadra-Lift air suspension with up to 274mm of ground clearance.

As with other Trailhawk models, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is aimed squarely at the off-roading enthusiast. Features include 18-inch off-road tyres, hill-decent and hill-ascent control, tow hooks both front and rear, along with unique Trailhawk styling.

The approach angle is rated at 29.8 degrees, but owners can remove the lower front fascia to increase this angle to 36.1 degrees.

The break-over angle measures 27.1 degrees and the departure angle is 22.8 degrees.

Further enhancing the Trailhawk’s off-road abilities are an electronic limited-slip differential at the rear and skid plates.

Overseas, the Trailhawk is available with a petrol-powered Pentastar 3.6 litre V6 engine, a 3.0 litre EcoDiesel V6 or the petrol Hemi V8. Being a Trailhawk, naturally all models feature four-wheel-drive.

Paint finishes include Redline Red, Billet Silver, Bright White, Rhino, Granite Crystal, Velvet Red and Diamond Black Crystal.

Inside, there’s an 8.4-inch touchscreen with the Uconnect infotainment system. For the Trailhawk, Uconnect features off-roading information such as wheel articulation and suspension heights.

Interior trim is finished with black leather and suede seats with red stitching, Piano Black and gun-metal accents and Trailhawk badging.

Joining the Grand Cherokee Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit and SRT variants, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk also becomes the third Trailhawk in Jeep’s Australian line-up - next to the Renegade and Cherokee.

The 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is scheduled to arrive in Q2 next year, with local pricing and specifications to be announced closer to the launch date. Stay tuned to TMR for more.

Ahead of the Trailhawk’s local arrival, Jeep Australia is offering three years free scheduled servicing and zero percent finance on selected Grand Cherokee variants between now and the end of the year.
