Jeep's top-shelf Grand Cherokee SRT8 has been given the special-edition treatment, with new Alpine and Vapor models coming to Australia.
Strictly a styling and options enhancement, the two special-edition models are offered in Bright White (Alpine) and Brilliant Black (Vapor), both limited colours.
The big V8-powered wagons also add a 'black chrome' finish to the 20-inch split five-spoke wheels, and gloss black Jeep and Grand Cherokee badges are featured.
Both cars get gloss black grille inserts and surrounds, while the rear step pad and light bar have been given the same blackened treatment.
The theme continues with the SRT badge on the tailgate, with a black flag replacing the regular SRT8's red flag.
A dual panoramic roof is also featured, along with a 19-speaker audio system.
The Alpine and Vapor versions of the Grand Cherokee SRT8 are limited to 200 cars each. The Alpine is available now, and the Vapor will arrive in late January.
With the updated 2013 Grand Cherokee range on the way however, buyers might be better off keeping the cheque book properly stowed, for now.
Pricing
Both variants are priced at $81,900 (inc GST and LCT, exc on-roads) - up from $76,000 for the regular SRT8 model.

This is old news guys. All have been allocated and 95% have been delivered, with 90+ drive away prices. Feel sorry tho for those who bought them with such a premium over the standar model when the update version with 8 speed, bigger screen as seen in chrysler, led tail lights and the list goes on being release at detroit motor show in 4 weeks time. And the so called limited colours will be standard option. This what we put up with in aust getting the model so late.
Its not all bad here. We do get the highest allocation of SRT vehicles outside of the US. At least they realise we still have a spot in our hearts for a fat V8. You sure the SRT is getting the 8 speed? Last I heard its not quite up to the task of taming all those torques.
I upstanding that but the srt jeep only started landing here a few months ago and the update is getting released in January, I would be highly disappointed if I bought one (which I almost did, had a deposit on a limited model). Here is a link to the mostlikely updates for the update http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_2014_features.htm . Also if you google the update there are spy shots of the srt8 in camo driving around with the interior having the bigger screen and 8 speed gear leaver as found in 8 speed chryslers. Also been informed by the dealer that all 2013 models have been spoken for and the factory is not making anymore, why?? Why would you stop talking order for a 2013 model jeeps in November 2012? It's because jeep has pushed forward the "2014" update early. And how many years are they going to run the 5 speed, it's so old, hence the push for the 2014 model early. And the forums have heaps of guys on there that actually work in the factories and release hints of what's coming.
