The Chrysler Group's model shakeup looks set to continue.

According to reports out of Europe this week, the Jeep Compass will soon be killed off, and Chrysler's Grand Voyager will be replaced with a crossover SUV.

Industry paper Automotive News Europe reports that Fiat and Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne confirmed the details this week, describing a push to eliminate product overlap among the Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram brands.

The report adds that the Compass will be dropped in favour of a greater focus on its Patriot twin, while the retirement of the Grand Voyager will allow Dodge's near-identical Grand Caravan to cover the same space in the group's line-up.

The changes are expected to occur in late 2014, when the platform underpinning the Grand Voyager - known in the US as the Town & Country - is due to be replaced.

The Grand Voyager's replacement in the Chrysler brand's line-up is expected to be an up-market crossover, with some reports suggesting a model similar to Mercedes' R-Class
