Fiat Chrysler Australia has announced a recall of the 2015 KL Jeep Cherokee, regarding a potentially hazardous issue concerning the air-conditioning piping.

An air-conditioning hose may have been incorrectly installed during the manufacturing process, allowing it to make contact with the exhaust manifold.

Prolonged contact between the hose and exhaust manifold may lead to a leak of refrigerant, or air-conditioning oil.

Contact between the manifold and AC oil may lead to underbonnet smoke, and in extreme cases could lead to a fire.

Owners of affected vehicles, built during the 2015 model year, will be contacted by FCA Australia, and repairs will be carried out free of charge.
