Jaguar will take its F-Type testing public again next week when the marque's Mike Cross, pilots the new roadster at the Goodwood Festival of Speed's famous hill climb.

The British luxury and sports brand has been far from secretive during development of the new topless tourer, with details of its powertrains already revealed.

From day one, F-Type prototypes have worn only the thinnest camouflage while testing on public roads, and it is expected that the car will look almost identical to the recent C-X16 concept.

Don't expect to see the car revealed in all its glory at the event, however.

"Goodwood Festival of Speed is focused around the dynamic hill runs where the public can see, hear and smell the cars – this is why we have chosen it as the place to showcase an F-TYPE prototype," Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar's brand director, said.

"The development programme is progressing with vigour and we look forward to showing the world the F-TYPE in production form later this year."

So far, Jaguar has confirmed two powertrains for the F-Type: an unspecified supercharged 5.0 litre V8, and a 280kW supercharged 3.0 litre V6.

Jaguar currently offers two versions of its super V8, one producing 375kW in the XKR coupe, XFR and XJ, the other cooking with 405kW in the top-shelf XKR-S.
