Jaguar has released a pair of new teaser videos, titled Future and Fearless. They're words that brand manager Adrian Hallmark and design boss Ian Callum describe as key phrases in the development of Jag's new F-Type roadster.

The first clip, Future, sees Hallmark speak of Jaguar's mission in developing the F-Type, describing the car as "light, agile, and utterly instinctive in the way it drives".

Callum says that Jaguar has been given licence to be "as fearless as we want with this car," focusing on power, speed and enjoyment.

"Designing a sports car, of course it's exciting. The passion for the brand is unquestioned, but what we have to do is capture that sense of emotion and speed."

Not shy of a catchphrase, he adds that the F-Type will be "one of the most significant sports cars of this century, of this decade".

If nothing else, the videos are worth a watch to get a listen to the F-Type's raucous engine and exhaust.

About the F-Type

Jaguar has revealed that the F-Type's styling will draw on the look of last year's C-X16 coupe concept.

The carmaker has also confirmed two powertrains for the F-Type: an unspecified supercharged 5.0 litre V8, and a 280kW supercharged 3.0 litre V6.

Jaguar currently offers two versions of its super V8, one producing 375kW in the XKR coupe, XFR and XJ, the other cooking with 405kW in the top-shelf XKR-S.

We could also see the carmaker's new 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine appear in an entry-level version of the F-Type, but for now, only the larger six- and eight-cylinder mills have been confirmed.
