Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations has turned its attention to the Jaguar F-TYPE coupe and roadster models, with a new F-TYPE SVR variant set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

The carmaker is specifically calling it the “200 MPH (320km/h) F-TYPE SVR”, meaning that the top speed is something Jaguar wants fans to be aware of from the beginning.

Jaguar also promises that while the SVR will wind the performance wick up to 11 to “exploit the two-seater aluminium sport car’s full potential”, the new model will still be usable every day.

The SVR version builds upon the existing F-TYPE R model, with Jag saying the new version is more powerful, lighter and faster.

How powerful? While this figure is yet to be confirmed, leaked information in Europe suggests figures of around 423kW and 700Nm from a 5.0 litre supercharged petrol V8.

The standard F-TYPE R has 680Nm of torque figure and 19 fewer kilowatts, and the SVR will reportedly hit 100km/h from rest in 3.7 seconds - which is 0.4 seconds faster than the ‘R’.

All-wheel-drive is expected to be standard, but a manual gearbox might have been left off the list in favour of an eight-speed, auto-only approach. Fuel consumption could be rated around 11.3 l/100km.

“The new F-TYPE SVR is the first series production Jaguar to be developed by Special Vehicle Operations and benefits from everything we know about precision engineering, performance and design,” JLR SVO Managing Director, John Edwards, said.

“The result is a 200 MPH, all-weather supercar that you can drive every day - we even made a Convertible version so that enthusiasts can revel in the sound from the new titanium exhaust system.”

Expect more details of the F-TYPE SVR to emerge ahead of Geneva, but Jaguar has confirmed the new model will go on sale overseas from the middle of this year. Meanwhile, get your first taste of the engine note from the video below.
