The much-anticipated Jaguar F-Type has made its Australian debut in Sydney, under the watchful eye of designer Ian Callum and Jaguar's Global Operations Director Phil Popham.
Callum gave a short speech about his new creation, saying that while the convertible it is inspired by the E-Type, it's no copy.
He did however note that the narrow tail-lights were inspired by the E's iconic rear-end, and spoke of how the classic roadster has inspired him personally. (Click here for TMR's interview with Callum.)
Jaguar has made much of being a "founder member" of the sports-car club in recent months. The sentiment was echoed by Callum as he recounted the legacy of William Lyons and the SS 90 and 100 of the 1930s, right through to the 1961 E-Type.
The F-Type will be available in Australia with three supercharged engines - two V6s in 250kW and 280kW trim and a V8 kicking out 365kW and 625Nm of twist.
