Jaguar is reportedly working on an all-electric version of its upcoming SUV, with a view to launching the new model in 2018.

Destined to wear the Jaguar badge, the new model would be a variant of the recently-confirmed F-Pace SUV range; itself based on the C-X17 concept of 2013.

British mag Autocar quotes “well-placed” industry sources, saying that the F-Pace EV would target a range of around 300 miles (480km).

The carmaker recently reserved the rights to the name “EV-Type”, but it seems unlikely that such a name would grace an all-electric SUV.

Land Rover is also rumoured to be working on an electric SUV (perhaps as a Range Rover model), and that model - along with the Jaguar F-Pace - could share a platform and key components for a two-up JLR assault on the Tesla Model X when it arrives.
