Jaguar has unveiled a new speedboat concept to commemorate this month’s European launch of its new XF Sportbrake model.
Known simply as ‘Concept Speedboat’, the water-borne creation features several contemporary and classic Jaguar design cues.
"With the launch of the new Jaguar XF Sportbrake, we had an opportunity to create a vision of how our design philosophy might be applied to an alternative product, in which speed and beauty are also priorities," Jaguar design boss Ian Callum said.
"The Concept Speedboat looks powerful. It follows, in so many ways, the idea of a traditional speedboat but with the sleek and fast characteristics that you would expect from a Jaguar Car."

Several of the speedboat’s surfaces and shut lines emulate those of Jaguar’s current roadgoing lineup, while the pronounced carbon fibre asymmetric fin behind the driver’s seat emulates the classic D-Type racer from the 1950’s.
Another classic Jaguar detail are the twin chrome fuel fillers at the rear, which reflect those found on the classic XJ model.
The 20 foot (6.1 metre) 2+1 seat vessel was constructed with the help of marine designer Ivan Erdevicki and project management firm Seventy Seven Design, and uses a fibreglass hull and teak decking in its construction.
Jaguar has stated that it has no plans to build or commercialise the speedboat however, with this concept version a strict one-off.
As for the XF Sportbrake’s local future, watch for the new wagon to make its debut in the coming months.
