Nissan's luxury off-shoot Infiniti has released a few more morsels of information about its range-extended hybrid sports car concept, which is due to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Following on from the concept's first teaser video, which was released in November last year, Infiniti's latest video reveals that the concept will feature a rear mid-engined powertrain.

It will also be built atop a platform that is entirely unique to the concept, while the electric motor and petrol range-extender will utilise technology that's new to the brand.

Unlike a regular hybrid, the Infiniti sports car concept will be propelled by its powerful electric motor exclusively, with the petrol engine only kicking in to recharge the batteries when needed.

According to Francois Bancon, Infiniti's Divisional General Manager for Advanced Product Planning, such a powertrain layout enables the car to deliver extremely low emissions during city driving, yet also be fast enough for the occasional track day.

Last year's teaser video gave us a glimpse of the car's frontal and rear styling, while this new video reveals some of the concept's side profile - including Infiniti's signature kinked C-pillar, borrowed from the 2009 Infiniti Essence concept.

More precise details have yet to be revealed, but expect more information and images to surface in the lead-up to the sports car concept's Geneva debut.
