Infiniti's G37 Coupe and Convertible twins are now on sale in Australia, following their local debut at this year's Australian International Motor Show.

The two-model hardtop range kicks off at $75,900 for the GT Premium coupe, topping out at $83,500 for the S Premium. The Convertible will be offered in $87,900 S Premium form only.

Drive-away prices are also available, but vary depending on region, age and driving record. In Victoria; $84,970 for the GT P, and $92,950 for S P coupes. The convertible; $97,570.

The G Coupe's Bavarian rival, BMW's 335i, is priced at $112,100 before on-roads - meaning that, even in top-shelf S Premium trim, the Infiniti has plenty going for it.

Mechanical Package

Driving the G37 pair is the same 3.7 litre V6 plant that powers the Infiniti's platform mate, Nissan's impeccable 370Z. In G form, the engine produces 235kW and 360Nm of torque.

Unlike the Z however, the two-door G twins don't offer a manual transmission, sticking with a seven-speed automatic. It's no slouch however, offering paddle shifters, adaptive shift control and downshift rev matching.

With this combination, Infiniti promises a 0-100km/h time of 5.9 seconds in the coupe and 6.4 seconds in the 200kg heavier convertible.

Fuel consumption is listed at 10.5 l/100km for the coupe, and 11.4 l/100km for the convertible.

The rear-wheel-drive G37 cars also benefit from the Z's same front mid-ship layout, positioning the V6 further back in the engine bay to assist weight distribution.

The suspension package across all models includes a double wishbone setup at the front and a multi-link arrangement at the rear.

In S Premium Coupe form, the G37 also gets a more highly tuned sports suspension package, a viscous limited slip differential and 4-Wheel Active Steering.

The convertible features a folding metal roof rather than a fabric soft top, to improve noise suppression and eliminate wind rustle.

Standard equipment across both bodystyles includes auto dual-zone climate control, 10-way powered driver's seat and 8-way powered passenger seat (both heated), a seven-inch colour touchscreen, 30gb HDD satellite navigation, 10gb music storage, 11-speaker Bose audio (13 speakers in convertible).

There's also Bluetooth phone and music connectivity, iPod/USB control, remote keyless entry, and bi-xenon headlights with active front lighting and auto-levelling.

18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels are standard for the coupe.

In S Premium form, the coupe adds sports seats with thigh support, and 14-way power driver's seat with lumbar support, along with a rear spoiler and a red S badge.

Both bodystyles in S Premium form also get 19-inch 5-triple-spoke alloy wheels, opposed piston sports brakes and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

A $2000 'Monaco Red' package is also available for the S Premium convertible, adding red leather upholstery and red-stained maple wood trim.

Standard safety features for all models include front and seat airbags, roof- and door-mounted curtain side airbags (convertible gets door-mounted only, but adds pop-up roll bars), along with adjustable front seatbelts with load limiters, front active head restraints, energy-dispersing body construction, Vehicle Security System and Vehicle Immobiliser System.
