Back in 2002, Hyundai teamed with China's Beijing Automotive (BAIC) to form the Beijing Hyundai Motor Company which then established three production plants in China.

Now, the company is preparing to launch new models for the Chinese market under the brand Shouwang. Its first concept, the BHCD-1, has now come to light.

Revealed at the Guangzhou Motor Show in Southern China, the concept is described as a preview of Shouwang's mission to produce green cars.

Technical details for the BHCD-1 have not been revealed, although BHMC says a hybrid heart lies beneath the concept's bulging bonnet.

It is expected however that Hyundai will build the production version of the BHCD-1 with petrol and diesel powertrains only.
