Hyundai has introduced a new special-edition model to its Veloster sports range, based loosely on the 'Street' concept unveiled at last year's Sydney Motor Show.

In production form, the eponymously named Veloster Street Edition gets the Sonic Silver paint option and picks up a larger rear spoiler, a red leather interior trim, plush-pile floor mats with the Street logo, and a Street exterior badge.

The Street also gets the 18-inch alloy wheels from the more expensive Veloster+ model, and takes the top-shelf Veloster SR Turbo's sports suspension package.

Power is provided by the same 1.6 litre four-cylinder petrol engine that drives the rest of the non-turbo Veloster models, delivering 103kW at 6300rpm and 166Nm of torque at 4850rpm.

Pricing (excludes on-road costs)

The Veloster Street is priced at $24,990 with a six-speed manual, or $27,390 with the six-speed dual-clutch auto, undercutting the Veloster+ models, which are priced at $28,990 and $31,290.

The SR Turbo models are priced at $31,990 for the manual and $34,290 for the auto.
