Hyundai has released images of its new advanced test centre, located near Germany’s world-famous Nurburgring.

Carmakers such as BMW, Opel and Aston Martin already have testing facilities built close to the famous circuit, and now Hyundai is set to join them.

The new facility will be used for both Hyundai and Kia, complementing existing R&D facilities in Rüsselsheim (also in Germany).

Upon completion, the new testing centre will consist of four floors covering 3050 square metres including workshop areas, office space and a hospitality area.

Hyundai hopes that testing at the Nurburgring will improve the ride and handling characteristics of its cars, especially for European customers.

“The new Hyundai test centre at Nürburgring is an expression of our intention to focus on improving the customer experience of our vehicles, such as ride and handling – an important consideration for European drivers," Hyundai Europe's Allan Rushforth said.

"The new centre represents a significant investment, and one we expect will significantly contribute to enhancing the perception of the Hyundai brand and our key competitive competence in Europe.”

Construction will cost around AU$7million, with the centre expected to be completed in August.
