Hyundai’s RM15 (Racing Midship 2015) concept has been unveiled at the Seoul Motor Show.

Described by the Korean carmaker as a “mid-engined, lightweight, high-performance two-seat concept”, the RM15’s primary purpose is to display Hyundai’s go-fast talents.

Power comes from a 2.0 litre mid-mounted turbocharged petrol engine developing 220kW and 383Nm matched with a six-speed manual transmission and capable of propelling the concept to 100km/h from rest in 4.7 seconds.

Weight-saving measures feature heavily in the car’s construction, including aluminium core structure components and carbon-fibre reinforced plastic body panels.

Hyundai says the concept at 1260kg is 195kg lighter than if it were built using traditional steel construction, with weight is split almost evenly at 43 percent front / 57 percent rear.

The concept is based on the Veloster RM from last year’s Busan Motor Show, also in Korea, with modifications designed to boost performance.
