The conventional hybrid and the plug-in hybrid will be powered by a 1.6 litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 77kW and 147Nm, matched with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic. The engine boasts a thermal efficiency rating of 40 percent.

Electric propulsion for the hybrid variant will come via a 32kW motor with 170Nm of torque, drawing power from a 1.56kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

Combined available output for the hybrid is 104kW and 265Nm, with a top speed rating of 185km/h.

For the Ioniq PHEV, the electric motor is beefed up to 45kW while the battery pack is an 8.9kWh unit. Using the electric motor alone, the PHEV variant will travel over 50km on a full charge.
