Hyundai Hexa Space Concept Revealed At New Delhi Auto Expo

Hyundai has revealed a new take on its familiar Fluidic Sculpture styling language this week, unveiling the Hexa Space people-mover concept at the New Delhi Auto Expo.

This is no next-generation iMax, however. Sharing its platform with the overseas ix20 small MPV and the Kia Venga, the Hexa Space sits on a 2570mm wheelbase - a good deal shorter than the 3200mm between the iMax's axles. 

Power for the Hexa Space is provided by Hyundai's 1.2 litre "Kappa" turbocharged GDI petrol engine, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

In the smaller i10 city car (also not available in Australia), the 1.2 litre engine delivers 60kW and 111Nm of torque. Fuel consumption is listed at 5.0 l/100km.

On the styling front, the Hexa Space combines an overall two-box van shape with the flowing curves of Hyundai's more recent offerings, with a large grille surrounded by LED-loaded headlights and fog lights.

Inside, there's room for eight occupants, thanks to two rows of three seats and a pair of additional pews in the rear.

Access is optimised with the usual sliding door arrangement, but in the case of the Hexa Space, the door opening spans the length of the vehicle, with even the centre pillar done away with.

Hyundai has yet to confirm any production plans for the Hexa Space, although it says the concept is aimed at young suburban and city-dwelling families.
