Hyundai has released a teaser image for its upcoming HB20, a new light car destined for Brazil and other new markets.

The HB20 will share its platform and many of its components with the familiar i20, but gets its own unique styling.

The line-up is expected to include the hatch shown here, along with a sedan and a light crossover model, the latter debuting in 2013.

Powertrains are expected to include a 1.0 and 1.6 litre flexfuel engines with manual transmissions, and for the 1.6 litre, an automatic option.

Production will commence at Hyundai's new Piracicaba factory in Sao Paulo, the carmaker's seventh manufacturing plant outside of Korea.

Hyundai says the Piracicaba employs more than 1000 workers, a number expected to grow to around 2000 by the end of 2013.

Australia

With Hyundai's i20 already on sale in Australia, and the brand moving away from the 'cheap and cheerful' image of the retired Getz, don't expect the budget-focused HB20 to make a local debut.
