With a big V6 up front and rear wheel drive mechanicals underneath, the Hyundai Genesis has often been mooted as a potential successor to Holden’s Caprice and Calais ranges once the local models wrap up later this year. While sedans are all well and good, where’s the Genesis ute?

Wonder no more. Although Hyundai isn’t responsible for this particular example, one enterprising owner in the United States has taken matters into his own hands and created a ready-to-work version.

According to the seller’s description on classifieds site Craigslist, the Genesis donor car was involved in an accident with just 2197 kilometres under its belt, primarily damaging the vehicle’s rear end, although a new bonnet, grille, radiator support and radiator were also required.
