Mercedes-Benz has revealed a new range-topping ‘Edition 507’ version of its C 63 AMG performance range, ahead of its official debut at March's Geneva Motor Show.

Named for its metric horsepower (PS) output, the 373kW Edition 507 will build on the existing 358kW C 63 Performance Package spec, with a few tricks thrown in from the now sold-out Black Series flagship.

Set to be available in Sedan, Coupe, and Estate bodystyles, the Edition 507 promises performance gains over existing models, along with unique design elements inside and out.

Mechanical Package

Like the existing C 63’s optional Performance Pack trim, the Edition 507’s 373kW/610Nm 6.2 litre V8 uses forged pistons, connecting rods and lightweight crankshaft from the SLS AMG, but liberates a further 15kW/10Nm through revised tuning.

The seven-speed AMG SpeedShift multi-clutch transmission used by other C 63 variants remains the sole transmission choice for the Edition 507, but 0-100km/h acceleration is down to 4.2 seconds for Sedan and Coupe models.

This represents a 0.2 second improvement over the base C 63 Sedan and Coupe, and 0.1 second ahead of the same bodystyles with the Performance Package.

As with other C 63 models, the Estate version of the Edition 507 trails the Sedan and Coupe’s acceleration by just 0.1 second.

Braking for all C 63 Edition 507 models will match the Performance Package with 360mm front/330mm rear two-piece steel rotors, with red-coloured six piston front/ four piston rear calipers.

The Edition 507 gets it's top speed uprated to 280km/h before the limiter chimes in, compared with the basic C 63’s 250km/h threshold.

It will also feature new forged-aluminium Y-spoke 19 inch wheels, with 235/35R19 tyres up front and 255/30R19 in the rear. Wheel finishes will include gloss titanium or matte black with a machined lip.

Features

The C 63 AMG Edition 507 will be distinguished visually from existing C 63 models chiefly by its Black Series-sourced bonnet, with prominent twin heat extraction vents.

Specific matte graphite decals are also applied along the door sills, and joined by gloss black detailing to the front grille, DRL housings, wing mirror caps and the lip spoiler of Sedan and Coupe models.

For those bold enough, Mercedes’ ‘designo magno platinum’ matte grey paint finish is also available as a specific Edition 507 option.

On the inside, three trim choices are available, including black leather, black leather/alcantara, and porcelain leather/alcantara combinations.

The alcantara trim options feature contrasting stitching, while all Edition 507 models feature and alcantara steering wheel and gear selector with contrasting stitching.

Gloss black trim detailing and red accents to the instruments are joined by an Edition 507 badge on the passenger side, offering further differentiation over existing C 63 variants.

Optional mechanical features include the AMG locking differential, performance suspension upgrade, and smaller 18 inch five spoke wheels.

Further options include illuminated sill trims, AMG floor mats, performance media package, additional gloss black or carbon fibre detailing, leather dash and door trim upper sections, and German customers can collect their Edition 507 from the AMG headquarters in Affalterbach.

After the C 63 AMG Edition 507 makes official debut at Geneva in March, European sales are set to begin in June.

Australia

Speaking with TMR today, Mercedes-Benz Australia’s Jerry Stamoulis has confirmed that the C 63 AMG Edition 507 will be available locally in the second half if this year, but pricing and exact specifications are yet to be confirmed.
