Honda Australia has opened the order books on its new NFS250R, developed for the Moto3 class. In 2012, the MotoGP feeder series will switch from two-stroke 125cc bikes to four-cylinder 250cc engines.

The all-new NFS250R is powered by a liquid-cooled four-stroke single-cylinder DOHC 249cc engine, designed specifically for track use.

It comes with a close-ratio 6-speed transmission, and titanium valves are used for both the intake and exhaust to reduce friction.

Like the RS125R, the NFS250R features a compact frame for tighter cornering, and dry weight is listed at a feather-light 84kg.

The NFS250R will be on display as well as test-ridden on the track at the 2011 MotoGP Championship at Phillip Island in October, and will be officially launched at the Sydney Motorcycle Expo in November.

The NSF250R carries a MSRP of $22,990 and can be ordered through Team Honda Racing. Orders close August 31.
