Honda has recalled its 2003 MDX variants due to a potential problem with the airbags.

A variation within the SRS electronic control units may cause excessive electrical ‘noise’, which could cause the airbags to deploy without reason, with obvious startling and unwanted results.

A total of 1598 vehicles are targeted in the recall.

This latest recall for Honda’s MDX is not related to the ongoing Takata airbag recall program.

The 2003-2006 MDX was recalled in Australia in June of this year, along with Honda’s 2001-2006 Accord models, joining a total of 130,000 Hondas in Australia affected by the Takata saga to date.

Honda will attempt to contact affected owners shortly, but any owner wishing to learn more about the latest round of recalls should contact their local dealer.
