Though it's already set to make its first appearance in production form at next month's Geneva Motor Show, Australian Honda enthusiasts may have to wait until 2017 before they can drive the new Civic Type R on local roads.

Honda has been without a high-performance hatchback since 2011, when the last-generation Civic Type R ended production.
