Holden has handed down a collection of 'behind the scenes' photos for its upcoming Trax crossover, snapped during the car's official photo shoot.

The Trax makes its local debut next month (TMR's Tony O'Kane will be on the scene), but these Instagram-like photos offer the first look at the Holden crossover since last year's teaser images.

Internationally, the Trax wears a Chevrolet face, while Buick Encore and Opel Mokka versions of the crossover get their own unique styling.

As with the locally-built Cruze small car, Chevrolet's styling will carry over to Australia's Trax largely unchanged, the one-piece Holden grille the only major change.

Overseas options for the Trax include a 1.6 litre petrol engine, the familiar 103kW 1.4 litre turbo, and a 96kW diesel four-cylinder.

Depending on specification, six-speed manual and automatic transmissions will be on offer (the former getting a stop/start system), along with front- and all-wheel-drive configurations.

Those seeking practicality in the cabin will find a 60/40 split-folding rear seat layout, and 358 litres of storage space with the rear seats in their upright position.

The Trax will hit Australia next month, when it will tackle the Subaru XV, the Skoda Yeti and the upcoming Ford EcoSport.
