Chevrolet will unveil a hot looking concept version of its Malibu mid sizer at next week’s SEMA show in the US.
Based on the US Chevrolet version of the upcoming Holden Malibu, the ‘Malibu Turbo Performance Concept’ will demonstrate the personalisation choices available to creative Malibu owners.
Key among these choices will be a unique bodykit made up of front splitter, sideskirts, rear diffuser, clear taillight surrounds and bootlid spoiler.
Wheels will be a unique 20 inch design, shod in Pirelli P-Zero tyres, while the exterior will be coated in a dark ‘Berlin Bue’, taken from the 2013 Corvette colour chart.
This blue paintwork will be offset by red detailing to the foglight grilles, brake calipers, and exhaust outlets.
On the inside, the Malibu Turbo Performance Concept will sport Recaro sport seats and a flat-bottomed steering wheel, featuring blue/red detailing in line with the exterior.
Engine-wise, the concept uses the internationally available Malibu Turbo model’s 193kW 2.0 litre turbocharged four, which promises a 0-60mph (96km/h) time of 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 248km/h.
Underneath, the concept is fitted with the torque-steer mitigating HiPer Strut front suspension used by the Malibu’s Opel Insignia OPC and Buick Regal GS Epsilon II platform cousins, plus an upgraded braking package.
It’s too soon to say whether any of these options will be available for the local Holden Malibu when it launches in the second quarter of next year, but TMR will keep its ear to the gound on the matter.
