Holden's Captiva 5 and Captiva 7 ranges have come in for a mid-year 2012 update, gaining improved fuel consumption figures, new features and E85 bio-ethanol capability.

For the seven-seat Captiva 7, updates include the addition of iPod connectivity across the range, while Rear Park Assist is standard on SX models.

The top-shelf LX variant in the Captiva 7 range also adds heated front seats as standard, along with Front Park Assist.

For both the 5 and 7, the Thunder Grey colour option has been replaced with the oddly-named Smokey Eye grey.

Both Captiva models have also picked up E85 bio-ethanol fuel capability. E85 is an 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent petrol blend, which Holden says can improve vehicle performance and reduce CO2 emissions but as much as 40 percent.

Fuel consumption improvements across the range are listed below:

Captiva 5

  • 2.4 litre petrol = 8.8 l/100km (from 9.1L/100km)
  • 2.2 litre diesel = 8.2 l/100km (from 8.5 L/100km)

Captiva 7

  • 2.4L Petrol Engine (SX) = 9.0 l/100km (from 9.1L/100km)
  • 2.2L Diesel Engine (SX) = 7.6 l/100km (from 8.1L/100km)
  • 2.2L Diesel Engine (CX & LX) = 8.1 l/100km (from 8.3L/100km)
  • 3.0L V6 SIDI Engine (CX & LX) = 10.1 l/100km (from 11.3L/100km)

Pricing for the 2012 Captiva line-up remains unchanged, and new driveaway prices accompany the launch of the MY12 range.

Driveaway prices:

  • Captiva 5 2.4 litre petrol (manual transmission) - $27,990 Driveaway
  • Captiva 7 SX 2.4 litre petrol (automatic transmission) - $33,990 Driveaway
