Google Appoints Ex-Hyundai US Boss To Head Autonomous Car Program

Google has taken another step toward becoming a fully-fledged carmaker in its own right, with the appointment of John Krafcik to head its autonomous car program.

Krafcik is the former CEO of Hyundai’s US arm, and had been working for online car-purchasing service TrueCar before accepting the position with Google.

But despite bolstering its armoury of automotive knowhow yet again, Google maintains it is not, in fact, about to begin building its own cars.

Instead, the tech giant will continue to concentrate on technology for self-driven cars.
