The real star of of the 2000 remake of Gone in Sixty Seconds, the "Eleanor" Mustang, went under the hammer over the weekend, selling for a cool $1.1 million.

The car, lot number S135, was part of the Indy 500's Dana Mecum 26th Original Spring Classic Auction in Indianapolis. It was also the second time the car was sold in the last five years, the first occasion on Ebay, to a private buyer from Texas.

S135 is one of eleven "Eleanor" Mustangs, and only three of them actually worked. The reason this one sold for such a high sum is down to its association with star Nicolas Cage: this was the "beauty" car used for the close-up shots and promotional work.
