Audi has pulled the covers from its second-generation RS 5 Coupe at the Geneva Motor Show, with the new model set to do battle with BMW's M4 and the Mercedes-AMG C 63 Coupe.

The RS 5 Coupe runs a new twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V6 direct injection petrol engine developing the same 331kW but a considerable 170Nm more torque than the naturally aspirated 4.2-litre V8 powerplant used by its predecessor.

An Australian debut is scheduled for later this year, with the luxuriously-equipped, four-wheel drive performance coupe having been engineered anew from the ground up.

Together with the new engine, the RS 5 Coupe also adopts a new platform that sees it grow in size over the seven-year-old model it replaces. Further developments include a new chassis featuring five-link front and rear suspension set-ups coupled to Audi Sport's Dynamic Ride Control system offering variable damping control.
