Hyundai’s engineering development team happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, with the upcoming 2018 Genesis G70 sedan spied undergoing hot weather testing outside of Dubai.
With one of the targeted BMW sedans along for comparison purposes, Hyundai’s engineers were caught on the challenging Jabel Jais Mountain Road in gruelling 42-degree conditions that would put any car to the test.
Two different G70 variants were along for the ride, with what appears to be a mainstream model alongside a more performance focussed range-topper.
The tell-tale difference include a single-sided dual outlet exhaust on one car, compared to a dual-outlet exhaust with Audi RS-style oval exhaust tips on the other, accompanied by a set of larger alloy wheels with upsized red brake calipers on display.
That car is expected to feature a development of the twin-turbocharged V6 engine and eight-speed automatic transmission set to make its local debut in the Kia Stinger GT later this year, while the cooking model will likely feature a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
The Genesis G70 is expected to be revealed in the second half of 2017 before arriving locally in summer.
