Hyundai’s newly-minted luxury arm, Genesis, is preparing to preview the next stage of its product offensive, with a new show car simply called the New York Concept.
No details have surfaced about the shadowy figure depicted above and below, but an educated guess tells us it will introduce the styling themes to be seen on the medium sized Genesis G70.
Targeted at established rivals like the new Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the G70 will feature rear-wheel-drive architecture, likely to be an adaptation of the platform that sits beneath the current Hyundai Genesis, itself to be rebadged as the Genesis G80.
The New York Concept offers a front-on look at the angular grille and narrow, stepped headlights, giving the car a more athletic appearance than the brand’s first product, the Genesis G90 limo.
The production iteration of the New York Concept isn’t likely to make the move to production until 2017, but we can expect to learn more about the concept’s finer details, including powertrains, when the New York Auto Show opens next week.
