The 'virtual racing' world is heating up, with new chapters in the popular Forza Motorsport and Need For Speed titles on their way this year. Another contender for your love and money is Codemasters' new GRID 2.

A pair of new teaser trailers for the next installment has hit the online world today, previewing the sequel to 2008 hit RaceDriver GRID.

Scheduled for a 2013 release on PC, PS3 and XBOX 360, GRID 2 looks set to bring more of the same arcade-racer style and flair of its predecessor.

Details for the new title are light, although Codemasters is trumpeting what it calls 'Total Race Day Immersion', focusing on new development tools and a new approach to the genre.

"In single-player, split-screen and online, the next-generation of the EGO Game Technology Platform will power graphics, AI, handling and damage advancements that will immerse players in the racing experience like never before," producer Clive Moody said.

These new teasers offer a look at the cars you'll get into, including the usual suspects like Ford's Mustang and the Chevrolet Corvette, but new options like the Pagani Huayra and McLaren MP4-12C supercars will also be on hand.

In 2013, GRID 2 will also go up against the new Need For Speed: Most Wanted game in the battle for street-racing supremacy.

Watch for more details to surface in the coming months.
