These latest images, although still rendered art, provide a detailed and, in some shots, a more realistic view of the GS4’s final production design.
As previewed in an earlier teaser, the GS4 will adopt the sporty tapered look popular with compact SUVs, emphasised by a curving roof and a fast-rising belt line.
A standout styling feature of the GS4 is its divided D-pillar design, with the blacked-out shape creating a wraparound look for the tight glasshouse.
If the production design is loyal to these sketches, the GS4 could make GAC a serious player in hugely popular compact SUV market.
GAC has already confirmed plans to launch in Europe and North America over the coming year, suggesting we could see the brand in Australia in 2016 or 2017.
The brand may need to reconsider its marketing for the west, however, having described the 1.5 litre GS4 as a “high-performance SUV”. Power figures are still to be revealed.
Watch for more details to come in Detroit next week.
